RECAP:  The Townsville 400 kicked off today with two practice sessions around the Reid Park street circuit. Scott McLaughlin and Fabian Coulthard did longer runs throughout the 40-minute opening session, with both crews focused on race pace. It is imperative this weekend that we ensure a large point haul in order to continue to in the lead of both the Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships. Practice 2 opened with a delay for McLaughlin, with a throttle position sensor issue needing to be rectified. The car was repaired, and he was quickly back on the pace to finish third for the session. Coulthard finished the session ninth. Our next on-track session is Qualifying tomorrow morning at 11:55am local time.

COULTHARD QUOTE: “It was an OK day, we’ve got a bit of work to do before qualifying tomorrow, but I think we’ll be alright. We’ll tune it up overnight, and come out firing for quali in the morning.”

MCLAUGHLIN QUOTE: “We went out and had a bit of a feel of the track and did a race run in the first sessions and then in Practice 2 we had a little issue there that lost us a bit of time. We got back on track and back on terms, so it turned out to be a pretty good day. We learned a lot, and have plenty we can take into tomorrow and the rest of the weekend.”
